Matilde Hidalgo De Procél was an exemplary woman, intelligent, extraordinary, talented and determined to fight for her dreams.
Matilde is an activist Ecuadorian woman who fought to achieve her dream of being a doctor, she finished school but wanted to continue with her studies for this reason her brother decided to help her sister, thus achieving Matilde to continue her studies, then she went to the university of Cuenca to study medicine and thus have her doctor's degree, which was rejected by people since it was rare for a woman to be a doctor but she knew how to overcome these obstacles. She became the first woman to exercise her right to vote in Latin America, Matilde read the Ecuadorian constitution and as there was no impediment for being a woman in the requirements to be able to vote, she decided, she went to the voting table and exercised her right without fear and much decision.
Matilde is a great example for all women in Ecuador and Latin America, since she was the first to sow a difference so that women can cast the vote.
